Making films has always inspired me. When I was seven, I produced a short animation (in the style of Wallace and Gromit) which was shown at the Glasgow Film Theatre as part of a Co-operative Young Filmmakers event.
I later became a member of “Scottish Kids Are Making Movies” for four years (until it stopped running in 2015). This gave me some basic production skills and was a great opportunity to meet other young people with an interest in film-making, especially on an exchange trip with Maddrim Media, another youth film club in Shetland.
With the Edinburgh International Film Festival, I have been taking part in the Young Programmers scheme increase my awareness of current films and the qualities of a good production.
Over the last few years I have decided that I want to pursue a career in the film industry, specialising in cinematography or post-production. I now study Film at Edinburgh Napier University.
